How to Start A Home Party Business The Right Way
A home party business is a great way, especially in a down economy, to earn extra money from home. I am sure you have been to a few home parties. And when you think back on them, I am sure that you can think of several things that the party planners did well, and some things that you could definitely improve on. So that's it right, just copy the things others have done well and improve the other areas. While that is a good start, just like any home business, it's slightly more complicated than that.
Choose Your Product Wisely
I bet you have heard the real estate axiom that says, "the 3 most important things in real estate are location, location, location." In a home party business it is very similar. The three most important things are product, product, product. You can have a great network of friends and acquaintances, be a perfect host, deliver an amazing sales pitch… and make absolutely no money.
In a down economy, simply selling pretty things doesn't work. People just don't have the spending money that they used to. Forget about products that people want. You want to find a product that solves a problem.
Try Before You Buy
You don't want to invest your money in a home party business, only to find out that you picked the wrong one. I recommend trying before you buy. Get a catalog of the company that you are interested in. Let your friends know that you are interested in having a party and pass the catalog around. If you get enough orders, and the company seems like a good fit for you, sign on as a rep. Otherwise, simply host the party and reap the benefits as you keep looking for the right company for you.
Get The Right Mentor
This can't be overstated. Your mentor can make or break your success. Find one who is interested in developing her business and who will invest in you. The great thing about the technology available today is that the perfect sponsor no longer has to be local. Through email, skype, cell phones, and instant messaging you can get all of the encouragement and support you need from a distance. So, don't limit yourself to other reps in your area, find the one who is going to help you succeed in your home party business.
