Two years ago, I was happily teaching first grade.  I had recently completed my teaching credential and was very happy with the switch I had made in my career.  I have a wife and two kids and it was going to allow me to spend enough time with the family, and allow my wife to stay home part-time with the kids.  Or at least that was the plan…

Shortly after I started my teaching job, the economy really started to tank in California.  And at the end of the school year, all new teachers were laid off and I found myself out of a job.  Getting laid off wasn't a huge problem.  The huge problem was that every other district in the area had laid teachers off as well.  This meant that my wife was going back to work full time and that I was going to be home with the kids.  It also meant that we were going to have a bit less income than usual, so I had to do something.

I looked at my options, and started researching what I could do from home.  We didn't have much in the way of savings, so I needed something that wouldn't require much capital.  I stumbled upon affiliate marketing, and thought that it sounded like something that I could do.  I read all of the hype and believed that I would be making thousands within a couple of months.  While I am sure that there are some of those stories out there, I wasn't one of them.  I struggled at first.  I'd make a sale here and a sale there, but I wasn't even making enough money to pay for my monthly expenses. 

I was a couple months away from throwing in the towel when one of my sites started making sales.  It was a site that I hadn't touched or thought about in months, and all of a sudden it was working.  It doesn't sound like much, but I was excited to have my first $500 month.  Then, with a new confidence that this affiliate marketing thing really does work, I have never looked back.  I started this site because I want to help others who are just starting out to avoid some of the mistakes that I made and to get to that magic moment when you realize that you can make money online.
